Summary - Letters from Iwo Jima (2006)
Saigo is a Japanese satin soldier whose life at Iwo Jima takes place between tunnels and anti-tank ditches. Saigo and his companion’s life changes when he assumes command General Tadamichi Kuribayashi, who will lead them to fight, leaving his life for the emperor at the most expensive price possible for enemies. To reset it decides an island defenses indefensible, changing the strategy of the trenches waiting for the enemy to fill the beach to attack by surprise. But if the island falls into hands enemy, will form the basis for that enemy planes bomb the homeland (Japan). Every day which can be defended is one day less suffering for the Japanese population that is his motto.
Deep down, Tadamichi Kuribayashi has mixed feelings at having to fight those who considered a friend people up before the war; many of his subordinates consider him “brotherly” towards the enemy, as well as to his Lieutenant, baron Equestrian Jumping Champion, Takeichi Nishi.
When the day of the invasion comes, Kuribayashi soldiers are given account yielding defenses planned by its commander effects to cause a considerable amount of low enemy, during the same explains to his soldiers that “none has the right to die without having killed at least 10 enemy soldiers”, but not to receive aid from abroad, the island of Iwo Jima becomes indefensible during the course of the battle, some soldiers will immolate, all eventually end up leaving the life for his country leaving very few alive.
